With 800,000 signatures gathered, generations of Republican leadership join to support effort to recall Governor Newsom following months of hypocrisy, violating public trust, and mismanaging taxpayer funds
ORANGE COUNTY, CA – December 9 - Thousands of Republican donors, volunteer organizations and half a century of party leadership have come together to Recall Governor Gavin Newsom.
“This is a failed governorship that cannot handle delivering water, electricity or managing fires,” said Rescue California Chairman and Former CA GOP Chair Tom Del Beccaro. “And now his lack of leadership has resulted in $2 billion of California Covid19 jobless benefits being delivered into the hands of death row inmates and felons all across the nation.”
Joining Former GOP Chairman Tom Del Beccaro are Honorable Chairs Tirso Del Junco, CA GOP Chairman during the Reagan administration, Former GOP Chair Frank Visco and Former LA County Supervisor and CA GOP Chairman Mike Antonovich. Leading proponent for OpenCALNow, Orange County Supervisor Don Wagner, also serves as Honorary Chair. Co-Chairs include county party chairmen, past and present state legislators and numerous Women’s Federated chapters.
“Newsom is single-handedly destroying our precious state,” said Wagner. “We need to end the economic and societal suffering of Californians, but nothing is going to change unless we cut the head off the beast!”
Yesterday, one of the largest organizations to fund successful Republican efforts across the country, the Lincoln Club of Orange County, joined the growing roster of support. President of OC Lincoln Club, John Warner, stated, “Newsom doesn’t deserve the privilege of governing California. The Lincoln Club fully supports the Rescue CA recall efforts.”
An estimated 800,000 signatures have already been collected of the 1,495,709 minimum required by March 17th. After an initial submission of 55,586 signatures to county registrars in July, California Patriot Coalition/ RecallGavin2020 submitted an additional 494,241 signatures in the beginning of November and is in the process of preparing an additional submission of approximately 250,000 within the next few weeks for a total of over 800,000 signatures. With signatures gathered in all 58 counties, the top performing counties include Los Angeles and Orange County, each submitting over 70,000 signatures, followed by Riverside with just over 50,000 and San Diego at 45,000. This is the largest known gathering of signatures by volunteers in US history.
The original petitioners of the current effort, a massive non-partisan volunteer organization, welcomed the support.
“This is happening at exactly the right time, we have just gotten the 120 day extension. This new committee, supported by dozens of prominent elected officials and seasoned professionals, is a perfect complement to our volunteers. We are the army, and they are the cavalry. I could not be more pleased.” - Orrin Heatlie, Lead Proponent of the Recall
